Computer Interface to GP

Up - Home

The Real Interface is with the Doctor's Brain

  • There are several or many different types of GP.
  • Practice computer systems need to accommodate each of them.
  • No current system is satisfactory to all GPs, or even all those who wish to use computers.
  • Practices which have some GPs of one sort and some of other sorts will have difficulty agreeing on choice and use of system.
  • Takeovers of one company by another are liable to be very harmful to a proportion of the users of the system taken over.

A new generation GP computer system must offer enough customisation to allow different GPs to be presented with information in different ways, to match their thinking patterns and preferences. Training computers is easier than altering GPs, and many GPs appeal to many of their patients because of the way they think and behave.
